About Moose Unit / Liquid Courage
Re-formed in 2011, Moose Unit is John Bailey,
Shane Robertson, Tony Clayton and Brad Smith.
As teens the band performed throughout Washington and Oregon
but as life took over the Rock and Roll lifestyle was replaced by
work and family. In late
2011 the members started meeting monthly to blow off some steam and
have a little fun. That
quickly turned into performing at parties and charity events.
With 70+ rock and dance covers honed and work underway on
original music Moose Unit is now looking for opportunities to
perform for friends, family and fans at your establishment or event.

Some Background History
Back in the mid 80's Brad and Tony played together in a band called MDA based out of Federal Way Washington along with our good friends Bill Nolan, Brian Estey and Diano Garcia. During that same time John was in another band called Mirage with some of our friends so we all loosely knew each other. Shane "The Hammer" Robertson was in a band somewhere else (I can't remember that story right now) doing his thing. About 4 years ago MDA started getting together to practice again and since Diano wasn't living in Washington one of the guys reached out to John to see if he was interested. We had a few practices and a lot of fun but family, work and other band commitments kept Bill and Brian from being able to meet as frequently as we would like so John reached out to Shane, who he works with, to see if he wanted to join us on the drums.
Initially there was thought of making an INXS tribute band but some of us thought that was a bit...limiting to put it nicely, so we ditched that idea and just learned songs that we like. Most of it is from the 80's and 90's but lately we are tossing some newer stuff into the mix. This is all just for fun so it doesn't really matter too much. It's just a bunch of friends getting together to have fun. We all work hard at our day jobs and have active family lives so when you can take a few hours every month or two and do something like this it is pretty cool.
After a few practices Tony came to us with a proposal to do a gig. A friend of his from work was having a 40th B-Day and wanted to get a band to play. That sounded like fun so we practiced a little harder for a few months and put together a list of 35+ songs to perform on March 10th, 2012. We played at the Moose Lodge in North Bend for about 100 people and it was a blast. For that show I do believe we used the band name Liquid Courage even though there is like 50 other bands named that out there. Moose Unit came from the Moose Lodge and I think was recommended by Brad's wife Mary or maybe it was Brad. Who knows. Anyway, that's the short version of our story. We are glad you came to check us out and we hope to hear from you.
